Young Farmers triumph in tug-of-war

Rob Walker referees the final of The Clash of the TitansRob Walker, from Oswestry Crossfit, helped organise the British Ironwork Centre Clash of the Titans which attracted 14 teams, both men and women.The event has become a popular date on the calendar for organisations such as Youth Farmers Clubs, rugby teams and gyms.Hundreds of spectators watch the teams in the heats of the all-day event before the spectacular final which sees the tug-of-war rope set on fire before the pull.This year the finalists were two Young Farmers Club teams, Rea Valley YFC and Oswestry and Whittington Young Farmers, with Rea Valley triumphing for the second year running.Other teams including male and female teams from the British Ironwork Centre, Crossfit Oswestry, Ruabon Fitness Centre, Oswestry Rugby Club, Oswestry firefighters, FC Oswestry, Wrexham Council housing and economy department, Physique Fitness Ladies and Press YFC.Clive Knowles, chairman of the British Ironwork Centre, thanked Rob Walker for his help with the event.”He has won Crossfit titles in the past and we are now looking at bringing a strongest man – and woman – event to the British Ironwork Centre,” he said.
